GENKI DAMA PABLO BANILA!!!i!

Changed my mind about Sakamichi no Apollon. It took one awesome song and an awesome high school battle of the bands animation, just like The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (which I also did not like until they performed the song “God Knows”). (Actually one huge part of it is that the disgustingly stupid tension was finally out of the plot.) (AAANd, Yoko Kanno turned out to be the composer of YUKI’s Sakamichi no Melody, which explains why it was so JAZZ.)

As if to cement the fact that I could never love Yoko Kanno any less, she happened to collaborate with my recent most favorite filmmaker, Shunji Iwai, in a just released tribute song for the victims of the Tohoku earthquake. The song is “Hana wa Saku” and Iwai wrote the lyrics.
